The first reaction/ reply I get from my mom clients after delivering their final galleries is “HOW? I thought we wouldn’t get this many great shots!!!”
Working with toddlers can be chanlleging. TRUST ME! I have two boys and it is tough. They don’t like to sit still, they will lose their interest after 2 mins and they will most likely touch and explore everything they see 🙂 But don’t worry, this is the reason that you hire a professional photographer! Like me! LOL
Here are few tips I would love to share with you.
LET THEM BE
The beauty of capturing children is capturing them as they are, and the best shots are often imprompt. I know they might not look at the camera and give us those smiles that you love. But the curiosity they have when they see something and want to explore, the fun they have when they just run circles non stop. I prefer to capture those raw moments for you to rememer how they are.
READY TO HAVE FUN
I often sing baby shark or Mikey Mouse club house songs 😉 I like to speak their language to get their attention and have them listen to me.
I like to play games with them, I like parents to hold them upside and down and tickle them. I like children to be on up their parents’ shoulders and have fun! So make sure to dress something nice but also comfortable for you to have fun with your kids during your session.
CHOOSE YOUR SESSION WISELY
Make sure to choose your session at a time that your childen will behave. If they normally wake up early, then do a sunrise session. If their sleep time is at 7pm and there is no way you can accomodate a sunset session, then choose a lifestyle home session which can be done anytime a day!
If they can’t handle one hour, then choose 30 min session instead.
BRING DRINKS AND SNACKS
We all know kids love juice, snacks or gummies! Anything they absolutely love, bring them with you! Either we can bribe them to smile at the camera or they can take a snack break while capturing parents’ photos.
BRING A HELPER!
It’s always nice to bring a helper either grand parents or your kids’ favorite uncle! They can hold a YouTube video which your kids like to watch in order to get their attention or even just callling their names and getting their smiles! 🙂
moments you look back on for a lifetime
